• One course from ARAB 23, CHIN 23, FREN 100, GERM 100, ITAL 100, JAPN 23, SPAN 23
• 91¿ì»îÁÖ who feel that they already have the required level of language competency must demonstrate such by completing one of the above courses (or a more advanced 100 or 101 level course). Other languages do not qualify.

Foreign Language Helpful Tips: 

91¿ì»îÁÖ should always ensure the courses they enroll in while abroad are approved by the academic department at 91¿ì»îÁÖ. For Foreign Language course evaluations, please contact the chair of the Department of Modern Language and Literature and cc the co-directors of the IB minor in the email correspondence.

• BUSN 70 (or BUSN 170); ACTG 11 (business majors) or ACTG 11A (non-business majors); ECON 1, 2, 3; and MGMT 80
• One course from MGMT 6, PHIL 26

Business Fundamentals Helpful Tips: 

91¿ì»îÁÖ may request credit for the equivalent of MGMT 80 for courses taken abroad. For study abroad management course evaluations, please contact the chair of the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship. Also, students should note that most study abroad courses equivalent to MGMT 80 do not satisfy the Cultures & Ideas 3 requirement. In order to get MGMT 80 to count as C&I 3 for business majors, it must be taken at the 91¿ì»îÁÖ campus and not abroad.

• Two approved Cultures & Ideas 3 courses in anthropology, history, political science, sociology, or two courses listed below, or a combination for a total of two courses in both groupings: ENVS 50; ECON 129, 134, 138; HIST 105; POLI 50, 119, 121, 122, 136, 137, 140, 142, 144, 146; PSYC 162; SOCI 138.
• Note that some courses may require prerequisites.

C&I 3 Helpful Tips:

Co-Directors of the IB Minor program are not authorized to approve C&I3.

C&I3 is a university-level course and must be approved by the university’s C&I3 committee. For any request about this, students will need to check with C&I 3 committee /existing courses approved as C&I 3. 

91¿ì»îÁÖ may complete the to request Santa Clara Core requirement evaluation for a Study Abroad course that is not listed in the Study Abroad Course Equivalency Database. Once this form has been completed, it will go to the Director of the Undergraduate Core Curriculum, C.J. Gabbe, for review, or contact him at core@scu.edu for questions that can not be answered through this form.

• Two upper-division courses from FNCE 151; MGMT 170; MKTG 178; ECON 181, 182, 184
• Note that some courses may require prerequisites and may be offered only once per year.

International Business Helpful Tips:

Please contact the Management and Entrepreneurship Department Manager, Rebecca Brauer, rbrauer@scu.edu, to confirm which courses are offered only once per year in order to plan accordingly.

• Participation in study abroad programs; approved equivalent courses taken abroad may fulfill the requirements of the minor

• Additional coursework in economic development, modern history, and politics of selected world regions
